# Quiz

A quiz is a set of questions you build with the VR Quiz tool in SimLab Composer — multiple-choice, object-picking or star-rating questions, with an optional time limit. The node on this page shows a quiz to the trainee during the experience. To react to what the trainee answers, use the quiz events, documented on the **Quiz \\ Events** page.

## What's on this page

- **Activate Quiz** — Opens a quiz in front of the trainee so they can start answering it.

Opens a quiz in front of the trainee so they can start answering it.

#### What it does

A quiz is a quiz node you build in your scene with the VR Quiz tool. It holds the quiz title, its questions and their answers, and it stays hidden until you activate it. When this node runs, the quiz panel appears where you placed the quiz node, on its start page with the quiz title and a **Start** button. The questions begin when the trainee presses **Start**. From there they move through the questions with **Next** and **Previous** and finish by pressing **Submit** on the final page, after which the quiz closes on its own.

Quizzes are for one person at a time. In a shared collaboration session this node has no effect and the quiz stays hidden. The node doesn’t change the quiz’s questions or answers. To react to the trainee’s answers and final mark, use the quiz events: Quiz Pre Question, Quiz Post Question and Quiz Submitted.

#### Inputs

<table id="bkmrk-port-type-what-to-co"><thead><tr><th style="white-space: nowrap;">Port</th><th style="white-space: nowrap;">Type</th><th>What to connect</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Execute**</td><td style="white-space: nowrap;">Trigger</td><td>Wire this from the previous node’s Execute output.</td></tr><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Quiz**</td><td style="white-space: nowrap;">Scene node</td><td>The quiz to show: a quiz node created with the VR Quiz tool.</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### Outputs

<table id="bkmrk-port-type-what-you-g"><thead><tr><th style="white-space: nowrap;">Port</th><th style="white-space: nowrap;">Type</th><th>What you get</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Execute**</td><td style="white-space: nowrap;">Trigger</td><td>Fires once the quiz panel is shown. It doesn’t wait for the trainee to answer or submit the quiz; use the Quiz Submitted event to continue when the quiz is finished.</td></tr><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Quiz**</td><td style="white-space: nowrap;">Scene node</td><td>The same quiz you connected, so you can pass it on to the next node.</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### Example

<table id="bkmrk-execute-input-wired-"><tbody><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Execute** input</td><td>Wired from the event that should open the quiz, for example the trainee clicking the pump’s control panel</td></tr><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Quiz** input</td><td>`<Pump Safety Quiz>`</td></tr><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Execute** output</td><td>Fires as soon as the quiz panel appears with its **Start** button</td></tr><tr><td style="white-space: nowrap;">**Quiz** output</td><td>`<Pump Safety Quiz>`</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### Tips

- Place the quiz node where the trainee can see it comfortably. The quiz panel appears at the quiz node’s position.
- To pass or fail the trainee, add a Quiz Submitted event for the same quiz. It fires when the trainee submits and gives you their final mark.
